CO PROP 119: Possible Unauthorized Medical Treatment of Minors

Update: This bill passed in Colorado!

Hi, I had to write to tell you about ballot Prop 119 in Colorado. It is billed as a tutoring and learning funding bill. BUT the Colorado state governor (Polis) appoints a nine member board who administer it. However, the bill text under heading 2 (on page 23) says “It is further indicted that such program will allow for: tutoring,…access to mental, PHYSICAL, and emotional HEALTH counseling and SERVICES; ….” [caps and bold mine]

What exactly is covered by “physical health services”? This may mean broad health care without parental consent nor knowledge. If you think this is far-fetched, know that the District of Columbia (not a state) passed a bill to allow vaccination of children without parental consent and even forbade doctors and school administrators from telling parents about it. What if there were an adverse medical reaction in that case? The parents would not even know to watch for one!

An earlier bill (different) talked about fertility, pregnancy prevention and access to abortion and sterilization, too. That bill passed the Colorado legislature. (I think it was SB-116 during 2021)

In addition, Colorado Proposition 119 establishes another appointed health board dictating things to us, instead of elected officials chosen by us. And asks us to pay for this helpful guidance through public funding.

What is meant in this bill? It’s very nebulous.

Of course you can vote as you wish, and should vote as your conscious dictates.

What Do You Think?
